Lena McElroy works as a Project Assistant in the Personnel Services Division. Lena supports the Neighborhood Council agenda posting process, provides customer service to stakeholders, conducts office maintenance, and other administrative tasks. Additionally, she supports various special projects and working groups across EmpowerLA.

Before working for the City of Los Angeles, Lena worked as a behavioral technician, where she supported youth with disabilities. Lena also has a passion for literature and writing, and she has served as an English tutor and worked in Black-owned and independent literary publishing houses, including Writers House, Pasadena Literary Alliance, Black & Bookish, and Cluster Chronicles.

Lena graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature/Writing from the University of California, San Diego in June 2020. In her free time, Lena enjoys creative writing, reading, practicing music and dance, and making visual art. She is also a Sergeant-At-Arms in Justicemasters.
