Mario Gomez is an Administrative Clerk and key member of the Commission & Office Support Division at EmpowerLA. He provides guidance and support to Neighborhood Councils, ensuring they have the necessary training and information to engage effectively in their communities. Mario also assists with citywide programs and initiatives related to civic engagement and contributes to key projects including the annual Congress of Neighborhoods event.
Mario transitioned into public service through the Targeted Local Hire (TLH) program as part of a deliberate career change. Prior to his career in public service, Mario spent 13 years in the retail industry, where he developed strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. His experience in retail helped him build a strong foundation in customer service, team coordination, and operational efficiency—skills that he now applies in his current role to support Neighborhood Councils and their communities.
Mario is an avid gamer and comic book fan. He enjoys exploring new video game worlds and diving into the latest comic book storylines.
