Joanna Alvarez is a Project Assistant for EmpowerLA’s Personnel Services Division, specializing in Personnel Support. She provides resources and guidance on various matters such as understanding policies, surveys, employee benefits, accommodations, training and promotional opportunities. Additionally, she assists on project designing, supports the administrative team, and promotes wellness initiatives.

Joanna previously worked in healthcare services for nearly five years as a Patient Access Representative. She obtained her A.A. in Social & Behavioral Sciences from East Los Angeles Community College and her B.A. in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles. One fun fact about Joanna is that her favorite holiday is Halloween.
