Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate

Dina is a Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate (NEA) for EmpowerLA, serving under the Civic Leadership team. As an NEA, Dina is responsible for supporting Neighborhood Council Boards with capacity building, training, and organizing skills that empower board members and engage the community. She supports the Central Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Valley Riverside, Glassell Park, Hermon, Hollywood Hills West, Hollywood Studio District, and Mid City West Neighborhood Councils. In addition to her work as an NEA, Dina also serves as the Lead Gender Equity Officer and heads both the Intergenerational Collaborative and Faith-Based Work Groups at EmpowerLA.
Dina brings a diverse skill set in project management, business administration, strategic negotiations, and relationship-building to the department. She began her work in local government in 2015 under Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson. During her tenure at Council District 8, she held several key roles, including Office Manager & Scheduler and Senior Field Deputy. She also has an extensive background in the entertainment industry and as an entrepreneur.
Dina holds a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and an Honorary Doctorate in Theology. Additionally, she has earned Certificates of Completion from the Los Angeles African-American Public Policy Institute, the African-American Board Leadership Institute, and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. In her spare time, Dina enjoys writing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling with her Millennial, Gen Z, and Alpha babies.
